Ten episodes. Two volumes. One road to the gallows.
Turpin is a full-cast audio drama from Big Finish, starring Dónal Finn as Richard Turpin, Jemima Rooper as Betty, Greg Wise as Captain Tom King, and Kacey Ainsworth as Maria Turpin.
It tells the raw, documented story of a butcher's son from Essex who wanted more than his share and took it by force. No Black Bess. No romantic legend. Just the gang, the forest, the roads, and the men and women trying to survive them.

TURPIN:
THE EPISODES

VOLUME ONE:
ESSEX PISTOLS
RELEASED: JULY 2026
EP 1: NEVER MIND THE BULLOCK
Essex, 1730. Richard Turpin is twenty years old, newly married, and already looking for shortcuts. His story begins not with a highway robbery, but with a stolen horse and a wife left to answer for it.
EP 2: LUCKY BLEEDER
Turpin runs. Betty doesn't. As Mason, the relentless Keeper of Epping Forest, closes in on the butcher's shop, Turpin finds himself deep in the forest with a gang of outlaws and a choice to make: go back for his wife, or stay ahead of the rope.
EP 3: ANARCHY IN THE MERRY KINGDOM
The Gregory Gang sharpens its tactics. Forget livestock. The real money is in the houses of the wealthy, and Turpin has the nerve to kick the doors in. But Mason is watching every road out of Essex, and the gang is about to learn what happens when the militia catches up.
EP 4: CHIT FACED
Two weeks of chaos. The gang is on a relentless spree, Smith is closing in on Betty, and someone inside the crew is being squeezed to talk. The episode ends at Hainault Lodge, Mason's own house, in the middle of the night, with the gang and the law finally face to face.
EP 5: RAT TRAP
Turpin breaks orders and heads back to town. A bad idea. Morris is turning the screws on Wheeler. Betty barely escapes with the baby. And a high-stakes heist at the Shelly household ends in violence that changes everything. The forest is the only place left to run.
The making of Dick Turpin. From a struggling butcher's shop on the edge of Epping Forest to the most wanted man in England.

VOLUME TWO:
DAMNED & DELIVERED
RELEASED: AUGUST 2026
EP 6: DOG EAT DOG
Turpin is off the leash. The robberies get darker, the alliances get shakier, and Betty and their daughter are caught in the blast radius of his choices. A figure steps out of the shadows on the Cambridge Road, and everything changes.
EP 7: GOD SAVE THE KING
Turpin and Captain Tom King. Two men, one road, and an uneasy partnership that takes them further than either expected. But Mason is running out of patience, the innkeepers are talking, and someone is about to pay the price.
EP 8: SLIPPERY COVE
Turpin is hunted now, not just for robbery but for blood. He keeps moving, keeps stealing, keeps running. The roads between Essex and the north are full of men looking for him, and the list of people willing to help him is getting shorter by the mile.
EP 9: PRETTY VACANT
Candlemas Day, 1739. Dick Turpin has vanished. Betty hasn't. In Hempstead, she navigates gossip, suspicion, and the long shadow of her husband's name, determined to build a life for herself and her daughter whether he comes back or not.
EP 10: THE NUBBING KEN
Yorkshire. A drunken shooting trip. A dead cockerel. A letter that never got collected. The man calling himself John Palmer is about to run out of road, and the schoolmaster who taught him to write years ago still remembers his hand.
The legend takes shape. As the gang falls apart and the law tightens, Turpin rides north, leaving ruin behind him and a myth in the making.
